The Hydrocephalus Association has been providing support, education, research, and advocacy for those living with hydrocephalus – a chronic, life-altering, life-threatening condition – since 1983. HA recently launched a multi-year, multi-million dollar research initiative to increase the quality of life for the estimated one million Americans with hydrocephalus. Treatment methods for hydrocephalus have improved very little since the 1950’s – which can result in multiple (sometimes dozens) of brain surgeries during a patient’s lifetime. HA WALK 2011 is a local effort to raise funds to support the efforts of mission of the Hydrocephalus Association. The event is initiated and coordinated strictly by local volunteers committed to the mission of the HA. As a result, the WALK is an extremely cost effective fundraiser that maximizes the amount of funds that can be directed to the program services and research.
